We took a mini vacation to the Oregon Coast. Kev had a few days off work to burn. The trip started out awesome with Jordyn puking after a Sea Ranch type of road. Luckily it was pretty much contained on her pillow. Kevin just happened to pull over next to a waterfall where I was able to hike up and rinse it off. I love the northwest:)
So we made our first stop at this wildlife reserve where we were able to see lots of elk.
We then did a mini hike to a waterfall. It was pouring buckets but it ended up being really fun and seriously cool.
We had a nice treat with our hotel room. It was nicer than our usual getup. I guess not many people are willing to freeze their butts off like us. The girls loved jumping from bed to bed.
We had a partial ocean view. The hotel was right next to the beach. It also had a really nice swimming pool and spa where we spent most of our nights.
The next day we walked around the town. It was such a cute little town. We rode the merry-go-round and did a little souvenir shopping. We also enjoyed the candy and ice cream shops.
Then Kevin wanted to try his hand in crabbing. We left the cage and it was opened when we pulled it up so we think someone might have gotten into it. Either that or chicken legs weren't on the menu that day. We didn't give it a big enough effort. There were too many other things we wanted to do.
Our third and favorite day brought us to Ecola State Park. Amazing views and lots of fun little hikes. Of course we can't be normal though. Kevin finds some crazy hike through the forest down to the beach. There ends up being a downpour as we are trying to get down. The "trail" that we are on is pure mud and seriously steep. I end up (as usual) sliding and landing on my butt right in the mud. Pretty awesome. We got to the bottom and realized there was no way down to the beach from there. Whoops.
This was one of the lookouts at Ecola
A more manageable trail
We started our tide pool search here. Lots of starfish for us. Kevin put this one in the rocks and it clung to them. We thought that was pretty funny.
My favoritist place ever is Haystack rock at Cannon Beach. You might recognize it. It's were they filmed Goonies. They had such fun tide pools there and the sun popped out for like 30 min.Kevin caught his crab.
On Sunday we drove home. We hit up a few places on the way. This day ended up being somewhat of a flop and the weather was pretty miserable. We went to Fort Stevens State Park, then stopped by Astoria where we climbed the Astoria Column.

The view from the top is amazing!!!! We didn't expect anything different. We did however have fun throwing off paper airplanes.
We stopped by Cape Disappointment which remained true to its name. It started with Jordyn puking again. The roads weren't even that bad. I think it could be pretty cool camping in the summer but not so much now. We then headed over to long beach to check things out. Kevin was being really smart and tried to drive the Accord onto the beach as I was telling him the whole time not to do it. It was a great told you so moment because he immediately got stuck. I got to laugh while Kevin tried to dig us out. He was being pelted by sideways rain and sand. The weather was so bad right at that moment. Luckily some guy happened to have a tow rope on him and pulled us out.
Here's Kevin covered in sand and water. He was so soaked we had to find a bathroom for him to change. Ha ha. I made fun of him the whole way home. All in all, good trip, seriously cold but what else are you supposed to do when you live in the Northwest?
