Ensign Ranch

We did a bit of camping for the memorial weekend at a place called Ensign Ranch. Its a church owned camp.  We couldn't leave until Kevin got off work on Friday so we got up there really late. We decided that instead of trying to put our tent up in the dark we would just bunk in my friend Heidi's cabin for the night.

The next morning started out with a walk around the lake and some critter findings.

We rented out canoes which was a blast. The second time we went the wind was blowing so hard I almost got stuck in the middle of the lake spinning circles. Luckily I'm just so strong and amazing I was able to paddle my way out of it;) Actually I was pretty lame since Kevin didn't seem to have one problem. I needed my second paddler Heidi to keep me steady.
They have this giant slip n slide. Jordyn went once though because it was only like 60 degrees outside and the water was hose water. So it didn't last very long.
A lot of our weekend was spent in this sucker. It was so nice. Thanks to my bro and his mission gift to me we had a very relaxing time too.
We stayed across from this which was a little scary but the kids were pretty good about it. It sure was pretty though.
Enjoying some ice cream from the trading post.
The girls got to do horseback riding. I thought Soph would be scared but she went right on and was smiling the whole time.  They both had so much fun.

On Sunday no activities were allowed since it's a church camp. So we were rebels and left the camp for the day. We managed to check out two separate lakes. The first one was super cold and overcast and the second one was super windy. Not the best luck that day but still fun.

Campfires were great. We had lots of yummy fire cooked meals.  This night we were waiting for our banana boats to cook. Jordyn was so excited and wouldn't stop talking about her boat.
My cute girls.  We had such a fun time. I can't wait for our next camping trip.  I asked Jordyn if she liked camping or Disneyland and she responded that she liked camping. After all that money we spent I was not happy. She could tell this and so she then told me she liked camping AND Disneyland.  I forget how easy it is to please these little ones.  I should save our big trips for when they are older and care more.  After all when people asked me what my favorite trips were as a kid I would always respond camping at Santa Cruz. I guess she is her mother's (and father's) daughter.

The pics of the girls are adorable. Soph is starting to look so much older. Looks like you had a much better trip than us that weekend. Camping in a blizzard=no fun. Beautiful greenery and pretty lakes = fun. We need to make it up there some day!
