So we came home from hiking in the canyons to realizing our house could be in danger. Thanks to Camp Williams and some machine gun fire on a red alert day we had a pretty crazy night. This is the start of the fire before the flames came up over the ridge. We kept saying that would be cool if the flames came over the ridge so we could see them a bit. Little did we know....

Fire is just starting to peak over the ridge. This is about 8 pm. Everyone is out in the neighborhoods watching this go down. It's a big block party. No one is too worried at this point. Evacuations have occurred for houses in the cove area which is between the canyons.

As soon as the fire came over the ridge it came down the side so quickly. We hopped on the roof to see cop cars and fire trucks yelling through blow horns for people to leave. That was just a few blocks from us.

Fire traveling quick down to houses below.

Has reached the valley floor and we can see huge flames where houses were supposed to be. They call for an evacuation west of 5500 W and we are at 5267 West. Slightly panicked at this point.

We were just going to leave when we decided to wait it out a bit. We made a cozy spot on the roof to watch as this house was so close to burn down. Kevin's brother and our neighbor Brad were with us. I can't believe it actually made it through. Flames were right up to it.

We got in from the roof about 1:30 am to notice that there was an evacuation from 47o0 W which means us. No cops were out forcing us and the fire wasn't as threatening at this point so we decided to stick it out. Today I'm running on no sleep. Was up all night. Helicopters are flying above us dropping water to contain the fire. People will be evacuated until it is 100% contained. I feel very blessed that we stayed fire and smoke free almost the whole time. The smoke got bad for a bit but not like Kevin's brother just slightly west who was having ash fall from the sky. 5 houses burnt down. They said they were expecting 25 t0 100 so this was good news. Lots of homes were scorched around the whole home but left the house untouched. It was nothing short of a miracle. What a crazy night!
